“after i say that these dogs had been actually on fire, they have been on fire,” rinaldi told the dodo. “they were just burning up. They had high temperatures.”
except having dangerously excessive fevers, the dogs had excessive cases of mange – so much so that they were purple and hairless and had painful sores throughout their pores and skin.
